Membership Dues & How They Are Calculated
Membership invoices are sent every January and due by May 31 of the same year. The number of graduates attributed to a program is based on the most recent data from CSWE’s Annual Survey of Social Work Programs.
If a program does not report their graduate data in the Annual Survey, they will be charged the maximum dues amount for their program level. The Annual Survey closes each year at the end of June, invoices are issued the following January, and programs wishing to correct an invoice with graduate data have until May 31 to do so. After May 31, no corrections will be made.
Undergraduate (BSW) programs
- 1-15 graduates: $1,000 admin fee, plus $85 per graduate ($1,085 to $2,275)
- 16-30 graduates: $1,250 admin fee, plus $85/graduate ($2,610 to $3,800)
- 31-60 graduates: $1,600 admin fee, plus $85/graduate ($4,235 to $6,700)
- 61+ graduates: $1,850 admin free, plus $85/graduate ($7,035+)*
Graduate (MSW/DSW/PhD)** programs:
- 1-15 graduates: $1,500 admin fee, plus $85 per graduate ($1,585 to $2,775)

Frequently Asked Questions
CSWE represents everyone who teaches at, studies at, and works for an accredited social work program. There are two categories of membership you may qualify for: Full Membership and Associate Membership.
Full Membership is a cost-effective way for a program to provide its entire team with CSWE membership, including individuals with paid faculty, administrative, or managerial appointments in programs accredited by CSWE and those in candidacy status. Students from accredited or candidate social work programs are included in this category.
Associate Membership is paid for by individuals and eligible programs and organizations. Anyone can join, but those who would benefit most from an Associate Membership include: emeritus and retired social work faculty and administrators, community college and junior college faculty and students, members of fellowships and professional libraries and library associations, other social work-aligned organizations, and international and domestic social work faculty and students.
To join, you must first create your account. Full/program members are required to link their account to their accredited or in-candidacy program.

Each spring, CSWE initiates the Annual Survey of Social Work Programs. This survey gathers comprehensive information regarding social work programs, including data on students, graduates, and faculty members.
Among the data collected is the number of graduates from each program for the academic year. These graduation counts are used to determine the full membership dues in accordance with the CSWE dues schedule listed in the full membership section above. The Annual Survey closes each year on June 30. Invoices are distributed to all designated primary contacts for programs the following January, with a payment due date of May 31.
If program does not submit their Annual Survey, they will be billed at the highest amount for their undergraduate and/or graduate level program(s) the following January. If a program receives an invoice that they believe is incorrect, they have until the invoice due date (May 31 of that year) to contact CSWE to submit a correction. No correction requests will be accepted after May 31.
