The function of the Council on Publications (COP) is two-fold: to serve as an editorial board in acquiring publication ideas and assessing the viability of publication proposals, and to provide recommendations on policy with respect to publications. COP is a council for the Commission on Membership and Professional Development.
COP’s mission is to develop and implement policy, procedures, and practices that advance the creation and dissemination of knowledge and resources that further excellence in social work professional education. Additionally, the COP is charged with:
- Oversee policy formation for the Journal of Social Work Education
- Oversee policy formation for the selection of CSWE Press books and other publications
- Review and implement a mission statement as to the foci of publications of CSWE
- Communicate with CSWE councils and commissions to identify the foci of texts and other educational materials that will further social work education and then seek to facilitate the creation and publication of such educational materials
Publication Awards
Best Reviewer Award
The JSWE Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) recognizes an outstanding manuscript reviewer each year at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting. The award is given based on the percentage of manuscripts accepted, average time taken to return reviews, and quality of feedback to authors.
Best Article Award
Each year the EAB chooses the best articles of the previous volume year. The criteria for choosing the Best Articles published in JSWE include the importance and timeliness of the content, originality of thought, innovative conceptualization of the topic, and presentation of conclusions and/or recommendations that add significantly to the professional knowledge base and to social work education.
